Reasonable Use Policy
The Reasonable Use Policy (RUP) applies Only to PCSHome Service Pricing Fee(s) That Feature Unlimited MB Download.
PCSHome’s desire is to assure that each end-user subscriber of its Operators have an “as advertised” surfing experience.
To this end, PCSHome has deployed certain technologies into its Network Operating Center that tracks the utilization of the satellite bandwidth of each end-user subscriber. These technologies are designed to ensure equal Internet access for all end-user subscribers.
In addition, PCSHome has several plans that its Operators can select from and offer to its end-user subscribers. The RUP described herein is applicable for the plans that are “non-metered” or “unlimited” in nature.
Therefore, PCSHome’s RUP establishes and equitable balance in Internet access for the end-user subscribers that subscribe to the “non-metered” or “unlimited” plans regardless of the end-user subscribers’ frequency of use or volume of traffic.
PCSHOME’s technologies have the ability to identify in real-time excessive consumption of bandwidth on a per end-user basis and correct it by temporarily reducing the throughput of the specific end-user subscriber that is excessively consuming bandwidth on the network. Once an end-user subscriber is identified as excessively using bandwidth, its individual throughput speed will begin to be reduced downward to a preset minimum. Once the end-user subscriber reduces its throughout (e.g. download is complete), and the PCSHOME technologies observe the end-user subscribers usage of the satellite bandwidth returning to RUP levels, the throughput limitations are progressively lifted over a period of time that is dependent on the total size of the initial consumption that caused the reduction in the end-user subscriber’s throughput downward in the first place.
PCSHome’s RUP allows the end-user subscriber to experience throughput levels far exceeding typical end-users subscribers’ needs. However, end-user subscribers that download more than the average of download amounts over their past thirty (30) day period, as compared to the entire populate of RUP customers, may experience throughput limitation if on a service plan monitored by PCSHome’s RUP.
Consumption patterns exceeding PCSHome’s RUP are typically the result of the end-user subscriber improperly using the satellite Internet service, such as, the service being connected onto a local area network or other multi PC installations, and not due to normal Internet access utilization.
PCSHome’s RUP is designed to give the Operator’s end-user subscribers above average surfing experience and fair and equal access to the benefits of a satellite delivered broadband Internet access service. The RUP prevents the network from being congested by a handful of end-user subscribers’ activities.
